ConSol is the leading developer of energy solutions for new home construction and commercial resource efficiency retrofits with 26 years of experience helping builders and property owners and managers increase profits.
Below please find current key experience highlights that demonstrate the depth of knowledge and service of ConSol leaders, which translates into enabling builders to build competitive, energy and resource efficient homes; and property owners to operate with high resource efficiency and low operating costs.
Mike Hodgson, President
Mike Hodgson brings over twenty-five years of experience in resource efficient consulting to ConSol, the company he founded in 1983. He has positioned ConSol as the builder's energy advocate at the local, state and national level. Mike has worked extensively in resource utilization, market research, and assisting in the development of energy regulations.
Hodgson led the development and implementation of ComfortWise®. More recently he took part in the creation of the California Building Industry Association's California Green Builder Guidelines, which provides California builders an consistent and rigorous program regardless of where they are located in California. In 2007, Hodgson served on the International Code Council’s consensus committee that developed the National Green Building Standards (ANSI 700), the nation’s first consensus standard for green building.
In 2008 Hodgson was selected as National Association of Home Builders’ Green Building Advocate of Year. He recently testified, at the invitation of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), before a congressional subcommittee on the proposed extension of the green/federal energy efficiency tax credit program. He has been awarded the U.S. Department of Energy's Technical Assistance Award, the Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star® Award and Pacific Gas & Electric's Energy Efficiency Services Excellence Award. He currently serves as the chairman for the California Building Industry Association's Energy Subcommittee and NAHB’s Energy Efficient Buildings Tax Credit Working Group. Mike is also a member of the NAHB Energy and Green Building Subcommittees. Hodgson is a founding director of the California Association of Building Energy Consultants.
Rob Hammon, PhD, Principal
Rob Hammon oversees ConSol’s consulting department, which specializes in residential new construction research and development for governments, utilities and industry at the local, state, and federal levels. He has over 20 years experience in energy-efficient and sustainable design in new residential construction.
In 2005, Hammon was named to California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Energy Efficiency Subcommittee Green Action Team. In early 2006 he was tapped to co-chair the New Solar Homes Partnership Advisory Committee to advise the California Energy Commission staff and commissioners how to create the most effective program to encourage solar technology in new home construction.
Hammon earned his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. from the University of California. He has received numerous awards and honors throughout his career, including Associate of the Year award from the Southern Nevada Home Builders Association, U.S. EPA Ally of the Year award, and Pacific Gas & Electric Company Energy Efficiency Services Excellence award.
He holds several U.S. patents.
Walter Kim, Vice President, Engineering & Environmental Services
Walter Kim brings over 28 years of experience in engineering, environmental and energy consulting to ConSol. He joined ConSol in 2010 and manages the consulting department with emphasis on commercial energy efficiency retrofits and environmental regulatory compliance. He has extensive experience with complex energy, engineering and environmental problems involving new and retrofit residential homes and commercial buildings, environmental sustainability, design, implementation, and regulatory settlement negotiations, pollution liability valuations, environmental forensic engineering including expert witness services and financial and legal assessment of work conducted by others for reasonable scope and appropriate costs. His main strengths and responsibilities are in strategic leadership, operations, program management, project development, and staff development.
Kim has managed programs and projects for the Department of Energy, Air Force, Navy, Army, National Guard, Defense Logistics Agency, Veterans Administration, commercial and industrial facilities, including residential home developers, lending institutions, wafer fabrication facilities, plating shops, gasoline stations, and dry cleaners. He is very familiar with American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funded programs, Department of Defense’s Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity contract vehicles and in particular with Department of Energy, US Army Corps of Engineers, Air Force Center for Engineering and the Environment, General Services Administration, National Guard Bureau, and Navy Southwest Division. Project sizes have ranged from annual multi-million dollar accounts to one-time fixed-priced projects.
Kim earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, at Davis.
Jay Lenzmeier, Chief Financial Officer
Jay Lenzmeier joined ConSol as chief financial officer in 2003. Lenzmeier oversees ConSol’s financial operations, information technology, and human resources function. He has over 22 years of executive level finance experience with companies throughout the region.
Prior to joining ConSol, Lenzmeier spent ten years in the residential new home construction industry as vice president of accounting and administration with the California Building Industry Association. He was responsible for four entities with annual budgets totaling approximately $12M.
Lenzmeier served in the U.S. Army in Germany before attending the University of North Dakota where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration specializing in finance and accounting. He is a C.P.A.
David Meyers, Vice President, Residential Energy Efficiency Services
David Meyers joined ConSol as a business operations analyst in 2005. Under
Meyer’s leadership, ConSol successfully implemented key accounting, project management, and CRM software applications across the company.
Meyers was the architect behind ConSol’s Online Tracking
System (COLTS) which streamlined how ConSol managed its
internal operations. He currently oversees ConSol’s
mechanical engineering department. Meyers graduated cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University of California at Davis. Prior to ConSol, he spent over ten years in high tech manufacturing operations with palmOne Inc., Netscape Communications, and Oracle Corporation.
