California Homebuilders' Energy Efficiency Effort Gets Fed Boost
Appear in: Builder and Developer, October 2001
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory, a research facility of the US Department of Energy, issued a solicitation requesting proposals from homebuilding teams to introduce the Zero Energy Buildings concept into new home construction.
As a result, a team of Calif. homebuilders and homebuilding professionals was awarded a grant to design and evaluate the construction and performance of Zero Energy Homes’ prototypes - with the goal of building a Zero Energy Neighborhood.
ConSol, a Stockton-based energy efficiency consulting firm, will serve as the project manager. In addition to ConSol, the team also includes the Meyers Group and four top Calif. builders.
