Building America
The Department of Energy's Building America Program (BAP) is a private/public partnership that provides energy solutions for production home builders through four teams. ConSol is the leader of the Building Industry Research Alliance (BIRA) team, a diverse coalition of over eighty industry partners. The goal of BAP is to build Net Zero Energy Homes across the country by 2020. BIRA leads the BAP in working with innovative home builders combining photovoltaics with highly energy efficient designs, construction practices and technologies to produce homes on a community scale that:
- Use 40% to 70% less energy
- Provide improved comfort and indoor air quality
- Reduce construction time and waste
- Improve productivity
- Provide advanced energy systems and products
- Employ solar energy systems
