SMUD's Home Performance Program: Neighborhoods
Homes in a given neighborhood typically were built with comparable construction techniques and features in the same general time period and should benefit from similar energy retrofits. Audits of select homes will confirm the unique features and help build the most cost-effective custom packages. Neighborhood “energy advocates” will help promote the concept to the neighbors. Participating homeowners will select from three different packages according to their energy and budgets needs. Contractors will respond to a request for proposal for the neighborhood work and one contractor will be selected based on a combination of qualifications, history, scheduling ability and pricing. The contractor will meet with each interested homeowners (hot leads) to conduct a visual audit, provide financing options and rebate information, present final contract with scope of work, and schedule the work. ConSol will provide oversight and quality assurance testing.
